- The modem in the Compaq Presario 7222 is capable of V.32bis 14.4
- kbit/s, plus the V.32 "Terbo" rates of 16.8 and 19.2 kbit/s. It is not
- a V.34 modem. The modem will connect reliably at 19.2 kbit/s with
- another modem that supports Terbo -- mostly those based on an AT&T
- Microelectronics (now Lucent Technologies) data pump. The
- Microelectronics V.34 data pumps still support Terbo. The USR
- "V.Everything" modems should do Terbo, too.

- Unfortunately I don't know of an upgrade path for the Presario 7222's
- modem that preserves the modem's local audio capabilities: full-duplex
- speakerphone, call progress monitor. It's an audio path wiring thing.
- I might be ignorant here; better contact Compaq to be sure.
